Panel Options – Gel Coat Skin thickness

From: $197.82 inc. GST

The range of Panel Options – Gel Coat Skin thickness available depends on the panel kit you choose for your project. A thicker skin generally adds strength to the panel (and some weight) and improves the aesthetic appeal as it is less likely to ‘deflect’ when the panel is being manufactured.

  • Panel Kit A – hand laid skins are approx 2mm thick
  • Panel Kit B – standard panels use Brianza 1.6mm skins. These can be upgraded to Brianza 2.0mm skins on both sides or some customers select 1.6mm for the internal skin and 2.0mm for the external skin
  • Panel Kit C – standard panels include Lamilux 1.9mm skins on both A and B sides

Description

Panel Options – Gel Coat Skin Thickness

The available Panel Options – Gel Coat Skin Thickness vary based on the panel kit you select for your DIY project. Thicker skins not only add extra strength to the panel but also enhance its visual appeal, as they are less likely to deflect during manufacturing. However, it’s important to consider that increased thickness may add some weight to the overall structure.

  • Panel Kit A: Features hand-laid skins that are approximately 2mm thick. These skins are known for their durability and resistance, making them an ideal choice for robust construction.
  • Panel Kit B: Standard panels use 1.6mm Brianza skins, offering a great balance between strength and weight. For additional reinforcement, customers can upgrade to 2.0mm Brianza skins on both sides. Alternatively, you can opt for 1.6mm skins internally and 2.0mm skins externally, providing extra durability where it’s most needed.
  • Panel Kit C: Standard panels come with 1.9mm Lamilux skins on both the A and B sides. These thicker skins provide enhanced rigidity and long-term performance, especially suitable for off-road or heavy-duty use.

Choosing the correct skin thickness is crucial for achieving the desired strength and appearance of your caravan or RV. Thicker skins are less prone to deflection, ensuring a smoother, more aesthetically pleasing finish while maintaining structural integrity.
