The Houghton Belaire HB2800 48V DC AEOLUS is a rooftop reverse cycle caravan air conditioner designed for 48V battery systems. It operates directly from a suitable 48V DC supply, making it well suited to modern off-grid caravan, motorhome and campervan electrical systems.

 

Designed for 48V Off-Grid Systems

Unlike a conventional 230–240V caravan air conditioner, the AEOLUS H2800 operates directly from 48V DC. In a correctly designed 48V electrical system this can remove the need for a large dedicated DC-to-AC inverter for the air conditioner and help reduce conversion losses.

 

High-Efficiency DC Operation

The compressor, indoor fan and outdoor fan use high-efficiency DC motors. The manufacturer positions the H2800 as an off-grid air conditioning solution designed to make better use of available battery capacity.

Quiet, Smooth Operation

The double-rotor variable-speed compressor is designed for low starting current, reduced vibration and smoother operation. True soft-start performance also helps reduce harsh compressor start-up and start/stop noise compared with traditional fixed-speed systems.

The HB2800 provides both cooling and reverse cycle heating from the same rooftop unit, allowing comfortable operation across a wide range of seasonal conditions.

Installation Requirements

The roof structure must be suitable to support the air conditioner. A standard 360 × 360mm roof opening is required, with an optional adaptor available for 400 × 400mm openings.

The manufacturer specifies a minimum 8 AWG power cable. Cable sizing must also take account of cable length and installation conditions. The installation manual specifies a 50A circuit breaker for power isolation and circuit protection.

Installation and maintenance must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and applicable wiring requirements. Professional installation is recommended.
